STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Donald Troy Hinton, 37, of Mariners Harbor, a lifelong Staten Islander with a passion for NASCAR racing and working on cars, died Thursday in Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, of injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash.
Police said that Mr. Hinton, riding his yellow and gray Suzuki motorcycle, reached 100 mph on the Staten Island Expressway before he was ramped by a police sport utility vehicle just past the Bradley Avenue ramp.
Mr. Hinton was an auto mechanic and enjoyed working on and cleaning cars.
Born in New Brighton, he settled in Mariners Harbor in 1995. He attended New Dorp High School, where he played football, and later graduated from Susan E. Wagner High School, where he played basketball.
Mr. Hinton liked to listen to jazz music, and loved watching NASCAR. He was a member of the borough's N2 Deep Motorcycle Club.
Mr. Hinton especially loved spending time with his niece, LaTrice Hinton, whom he affectionately referred to as his "Dinky." He was a member of St. Philip's Baptist Church, Port Richmond. Surviving are his mother, Jan Hinton-Rouse, and his three brothers, Kevin Lamont Hinton; Franklin Rouse Jr., and Samuel Rouse.
The funeral will be Friday from the Stradford Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with a service at 10 a.m. in St. Philip's Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Silver Mount Cemetery, Silver Lake.

I am so sorry to hear of your lost. Maybe
somewhere there is a witness that will come forward and help bring us
justice. The police is out of control and if they caused such as
a loss of life then they should be dealt with.
